Why is Handwriting important

Children are texting and typing more than ever, with less time master Handwriting skill. Research shows handwriting increases brain activity, hones fine motor skills, and can predict a child's academic success in ways that keyboarding can't.

Handwriting can change how children learn and their brains develop. Neuroimaging scans that measure brain activity showed that the kids who practiced writing had activity similar to an adult versus children who practiced seeing and saying the letters. Writing improved letter recognition, No. 1 predictor of reading ability at age 5.
Good handwriting can mean better grades. Same mediocre paper is graded higher if the handwriting is neat and much lower if the writing is not.
Handwriting is faster. Researchers found that children compose essays more prolifically with a pen rather than a keyboard.
Handwriting aids memory. You're likely to remember what you wrote than if you memorize it.
Handwriting proficiency inspires confidence. Once good Handwriting muscle memory is developed children can focus on the subject, and not worry about letter formation.

"The truth is that mastering handwriting sets children up for other learning successes. Handwriting builds confidence, teaches children to have an organized approach and enhances their ability to communicate."
